All You Need Is Pag-ibig is a heartwarming and romantic family movie, written and directed by Antoinette Jadaone, with Yoshe Dimen as co-writer. All You Need Is Pag-ibig is an intensely relatable movie as it explores and presents all the wonders one may discover from the many facets of love – from puppy love to unrequited love; from love of family to a love that is the stuff of dreams; and from the kind love that has faded to a love that is jaded.

All You Need Is Pag-ibig is the very first film that Jadaone directed under Star Cinema since You’re My Boss, which is one of the highest grossing films of 2015. Jadaone is widely known as the Blockbuster Hugot Director Of The Philippines after she wrote and directed That Thing Called Tadhana in 2014, which is to date, the highest grossing Filipino independent film of all time.

This is also the first big-screen team up of Jodi Sta. Maria and Ian Veneracion, who are now known as Amorado and JodIan after gaining a massive mainstream following because of their roles as star-crossed lovers Amor de Jesus-Powers and Eduardo Buenavista on the top-rating primetime series Pangako Sa ‘Yo.

The inimitable love team of Kim Chiu and Xian Lim, whose most recent project together is the mobile series on Star Flix Must Date The Playboy, make a grand movie comeback to give their signature rom-com flavor to the film. All You Need Is Pag-ibig is also Derek Ramsay’s third project under Star Cinema this year after he appeared in the smash hits Ex With Benefits and Etiquette For Mistresses.

All You Need Is Pag-ibig is the perfect family bonding movie this Christmas as it celebrates the power and many forms of love. The film will remind Filipinos that love is the only and ultimate force that could overcome the many hardships and challenges of life.

All You Need Is Pag-ibig opens in cinemas nationwide starting Dec. 25.

Vice, Coco, Jadine spreads love and laughter at the MMFF with Beauty And The Bestie

Jadine 1

STAR Cinema continues its tradition of non-stop fun and laughter for the whole family in this year’s Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) as it collaborates with Viva Films for its MerryGalo– Wenn V. Deramas’ Beauty And The Bestie starring Vice Ganda and Coco Martin.

With a script written by Mel Del Rosario, Beauty And The Bestie marks the 5th team-up of the phenomenal and unbeatable tandem of Deramas and Vice Ganda in the MMFF, this time with television’s Primetime King Coco Martin.

The film is centered on Erika (Vice Ganda), a gay photographer, and his former best friend, special agent Emman (Coco Martin). Emman offers Erika a secret mission to post as the missing Miss Uzeklovakia in the Miss Uniworld 2015 pageant to prevent the latter’s recluse country from waging a possible world war. As Erika accepts the mission, the former BFFs find themselves entangled in the crazy world of beauty pageants in their action-packed adventure of finding the elusive Miss Uzeklovakia. As they race against time, Erika and Emman find themselves in an awkward situation that forces them to rekindle a peculiar flame in their past.

This action-packed, laugh-a-minute comedy also stars James Reid and Nadine Lustre, who are two of the hottest young stars today whose love team is soaring high on ABS-CBN’s top-rating primetime series On The Wings Of Love. Completing the whacky gang of Beauty And The Bestie are child superstars Marco Masa and Alonzo Muhlach, Badji Mortiz, Karla Estrada, Ryan Bang, MC Calaquian, and Lassy.

Beauty And The Bestie is showing in all cinemas nationwide starting December 25.

Gary V Sings: Just For You turns Gold

The latest album of Gary Valenciano, Gary V Sings: Just For You, has recently been presented with a Gold Record Award for its outstanding sales. The album includes Gary’s renditions of memorable hits like In Your Eyes, It Might Be You, Somewhere Down The Road, What Matters Most, Overjoyed, among others.

The award was given last February 10 during ASAP 18, where he also launched the second single of the album – a modern take on Stephen Bishop’s It Might Be You. Present during the awarding is Universal Records’ General Manager Kathleen Dy-Go.

It should be noted that “Gary V Sings: Just For You” is Gary’s 26th full-length studio album with Universal Records.

“Gary V Sings: Just For You” is another creative and original concept by Gary which is six-months in the making. “I was in the car and I told Kiana [my youngest child] to make ‘pa-simple’ in asking her mom, my wife Angeli, about the songs she once mentioned to me. These songs were just some of her favorites that she had always dreamed I would record,” says Gary.

“I wanted to make that year’s Christmas a special one for her by actually recording some of her choice cuts as a gift. And so I did. The concept was very different from all my other recordings as I only had one instrument accompanying me as I sang…the piano,” explains Gary. “Years went by and only Angeli has had a copy of those songs. From the very start I wanted these songs recorded for only one person…and that was her.”

“Gary V Sings: Just For You,” according to Gary “stems from a dream of a wife and from the heart of a husband, to an album that Gary hopes for many to enjoy and to find quite endearing.”

Acknowledging this, Universal Records is releasing the most ambitious project of Ogie: The Songwriter & The Hitmakers which gathers the biggest music acts in the country to perform compositions of Ogie.

“I feel so honored to have been given a project as big as this,” says Ogie. “I am in awe of all the talents involved here.”

The Songwriter & The Hitmakers features Ogie’s songs recorded by Gary Valenciano, Regine Velasquez, Martin Nievera, Piolo Pascual, Christian Bautista, Sarah Geronimo, Arnel Pineda, Noel Cabangon, Richard Poon, Jed Madela, Kuh Ledesma, Rachelle Ann Go, Kyla, JayR and Jaya. New compositions and some of Ogie’s biggest hits are included in the album.

Movie Review: The Bourne Legacy

Notice: All of the things written here are views of the author of this blog. We are entitled of our own opinions, so please just enjoy reading it. Thank You 🙂

The Bourne Legacy, the fourth movie in the Bourne movie franchise, Yes, there is no Matt Damon playing the part of Jason Bourne instead it has Jeremy Renner as Aaron Cross an operative of  Operation Outcome  one of  Department of Defense’s black ops programs, which provides its agents with green pills that enhance physical abilities and blue pills that enhance mental abilities. All goes sour when Jason Bourne exposed Threadstone and Blackbriar Project to the public and Eric Byer (Edward Norton) decides to eliminate all Operation Outcome operatives to prevent having another loose cannon like Jason Bourne.

The story is not based on the Bourne Legacy book though it bares the same name. the story time frame is somewhat concurrent with  Bourne Ultimatum and depicts the outcome of  Treadstone and Blackbriar Progra exposé. The phase of the story is quite slow at first because of the frequent flash backs of the scenes from the Ultimatum and the explanation of the implications of the exposé. The movie starts to switch to high gear as Aaron Cross goes for the run.

The action scenes are successfully done and the locations of the scenes are carefully selected for the audience to feel the rush of the action (the rooftop drop is quite impressive and the high speed chase on the busy roads of Edsa). And just like other movies, there are some flaws or inconsistency (minor that is) that I saw such as Filipino Security Guards fluently talking in English like a call center agent (mind you guys without pause or any Filipino accent) and Filipino cops chasing Dr. Marta Shearing (Rachel Weisz) and shouting “Stop!” in tagalog!!!!.(For goodness sake it’s a foreigner that you are chasing so speak in english!!). It seems like security guards are paying more attention in their English class and the Cops are  paying more attention on their Filipino class haha. and oh I almost forgot, the absence of MMDA traffic enforcers during the motorbike chase in Edsa.

Setting the minor errors and inconsistency aside. The movie features some of the most talented Filipino Actors in the Philippines such as John Arcilla and Lou Veloso who played their part well even though they only got a few frames on the movie.

Jeremy Renner played the role of Aaron Cross well and made the audience (ok,ok some of the audience) forget Jason Bourne during the movie and Rachel Weisz done a great job portraying Dr. Marta Shearing and Edward Norton playing as the primary antagonist  Eric Byer.

The movie is good it but left the audience hanging for more action and just ended in a flash. But still it is a good movie to watch and for those die hard Bourne Trilogy fanatics out there, you might not like the movie for there is no Matt Damon or Paul Greengrass not directing the movie but still it is a good movie for those avid movie goers and movie fans alike.

Here’s the trailer of The Bourne Legacy for those who still not seen it.

Manila Kingpin : Asiong Salonga
